Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 10, 2026
fomo is for sharing real moments at real events with real people. These guidelines explain what is and is not allowed on fomo, how we enforce the rules, and what you can do when someone breaks them. They apply to everything you post: photos, chat messages, event names and descriptions, profiles, usernames, and anything else other people can see.
1. The Basics
- Be yourself. Use your real identity. Impersonating other people, brands, or organizations is not allowed.
- Be respectful. Treat people on fomo the way you would treat them at the event itself.
- You must be 18 or older to use fomo, as set out in our Terms of Service.
2. Zero-Tolerance Content
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. The following are never allowed and will result in content removal and account action, up to a permanent ban:
- Harassment, bullying, or threats against any person
- Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic
- Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content
- Graphic violence or content that glorifies violence or self-harm
- Illegal activity, including the sale of drugs or weapons
- Spam, scams, deceptive content, or unauthorized advertising
- Sharing someone else's private information (addresses, phone numbers, photos taken without consent)
3. How Moderation Works
- Filtering: fomo automatically screens text content (messages, event details, usernames, profiles) for abusive language before it is posted.
- Reporting: every photo, message, event, and profile can be reported in the app. Long-press a chat message and tap the flag to report it. On a profile or event, tap the menu (⋯) and choose Report.
- Review within 24 hours: our team reviews every report within 24 hours and removes content that violates these guidelines.
- Ejection of abusive users: accounts that post zero-tolerance content or repeatedly break these rules are suspended or permanently banned.
4. Blocking
You can block any user from their profile (menu ⋯ > Block). Blocking takes effect immediately: a blocked user cannot message you, see your profile, RSVP to your events, or interact with you anywhere in fomo. You can unblock at any time from the same menu.
5. Photos and the Disposable Camera
- Only take photos of people who are comfortable being photographed. Event photos are visible to everyone attending the event after they are revealed.
- If you appear in a photo you want taken down, report it in the app or email us and we will review it within 24 hours.
6. Consequences
Depending on severity, violations result in content removal, a warning, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban. Zero-tolerance violations skip straight to removal and account action. We may also report content to law enforcement where required.
7. Appeals and Contact
Report content: in the app (fastest), or email contact@spreadfomo.com
Appeal a moderation decision: email contact@spreadfomo.com with your username
We respond to all moderation reports within 24 hours.
By using the fomo App, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines.
